Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe endured a severe drought in 2018 and 2019, which brought about massive crop failure and increase the vulnerability to infectious diseases, including vector-borne and vaccine-preventable illnesses. In March 2019, the east of the country was struck by Cyclone Idai, leaving over 100 000 people in need of humanitarian assistance. At least 4 million vulnerable Zimbabweans are facing challenges accessing primary health care.

The Health Cluster response will focus on three elements: providing essential life-saving medicines to healthcare facilities; supporting sexual and reproductive health care for the most vulnerable women and girls; and better identifying and responding to communicable disease outbreaks. The Health Cluster will promote close collaboration with other sectors to address cross-cutting issues such as psychosocial support, malnutrition and GBV survivors.

The information displayed here is updated in reference to the Health Cluster dashboard, in quarterly periods.
