Niger

Niger continues to face a complex humanitarian crisis driven by insecurity, climate shocks, and recurrent epidemics, layered onto chronic poverty and structural vulnerabilities. Limited health coverage (56.6%) leaves nearly half the population without access to essential services, particularly in hard-to-reach areas. In 2026, the Health Sector targets 2.8 million people, prioritizing epidemic response, maternal and child health, and restoration of essential services. With 146 facilities closed and outbreaks of measles, diphtheria, and meningitis reported in 2025, mobile clinics and community-based approaches remain critical to reach underserved populations and reduce preventable mortality.
