Our work
Responding to health emergencies requires more than the efforts of a single organization. Effective coordination between partners is essential to save lives and reach those in need.
The Global Health Cluster brings together humanitarian health partners to plan, set priorities, and take collective action. With the World Health Organization (WHO) as the Cluster Lead agency for health, we help ensure that health responses are timely, effective, and predictable, so that life-saving services reach people when and where they are needed most.
We support Health Clusters at country and local levels with practical, technical, and operational assistance. Our work strengthens coordination capacity, improves the quality and timeliness of health information, and addresses critical gaps in emergency response. Through Task Teams and partner collaboration, we develop tools, guidance, and shared solutions for frontline responders.
We also collaborate closely with other humanitarian Clusters to strengthen multi-sectoral action and improve health outcomes in emergencies.
By aligning efforts across agencies and supporting national leadership, we promote responses that are coordinated, accountable, and centred on the needs of affected communities.
The work of the Health Cluster is designed around its 2020 - 2025 strategy (further extended to 2026), and the corresponding workplan.
Strategic Framework
To save lives and promote dignity in humanitarian and public health emergencies.
The Health Cluster collectively prepares for and responds to humanitarian and public health emergencies to improve the health outcomes of affected populations through timely, predictable, appropriate and effective coordinated health action.
Five strategic priorities guide the work of the GHC and provide a structure in which to examine our accomplishments and challenges.
