Somalia

Somalia’s health system remains under severe strain, driven by conflict, drought, displacement and limited access to safe water. In 2026, 5 million people will need health assistance, with outbreaks of measles, diphtheria and AWD/cholera continuing to pose major risks—particularly for children, pregnant women and displaced populations. Access constraints, funding cuts and supply disruptions are further limiting response capacity.

The Health Cluster targets 2.4 million people, prioritising high-severity areas with low service availability and high disease burden. The response focuses on lifesaving services, outbreak control, and integrated health and nutrition support, with strengthened coordination to reach hard-to-access populations and reduce preventable mortality.
