A year of crisis

Overview

As the conflict in Gaza and the West Bank marks one year, the health sector is grappling with immense strain. The toll on civilians has been devastating, and children, women, and the elderly make up a significant portion of the victims, with healthcare facilities, ambulances, and medical personnel frequently targeted in the violence.

Hospitals and primary healthcare centres have been severely impacted, with many forced to shut down due to damage. In Gaza, 32 of 36 hospitals are damaged, and over half of the region’s primary healthcare centres are no longer operational. Humanitarian workers face constant threats as they strive to deliver aid, and the demand for trauma care, mental health support, and emergency services continues to grow.
