At the end of July, the GHC Information Management Task Team (IMTT) met to reflect on achievements, challenges, and shifting priorities. The meeting acknowledged the growing impact of global defunding across the humanitarian system, which is reshaping how coordination, prioritization, and information management (IM) must operate.

In this context, members discussed the need for leaner, more interoperable tools, better alignment with local systems, and targeted support to clusters facing deactivation or transition. The IMTT Terms of Reference are under review, and a survey was launched to gather partner feedback on what should be maintained, adapted, or retired.

Key updates included the Humanitarian Reset, Humanitarian Programme Cycle 2026 reform proposals, and Area-Based Coordination, all of which present opportunities for IM to become more focused, integrated, and responsive. Advances in Publish Health Information Systems (PHIS) standards were welcomed, particularly given the constraints on resources.

A specific focus was placed on Venezuela, where the Health Cluster is preparing for a shift in coordination architecture. IM support will be critical to ensure data continuity, manage handovers, and maintain visibility of needs and actors during the transition.

The group committed to continued collaboration and innovation to ensure that IM remains a critical enabler of principled, effective responses in a rapidly evolving landscape.
