Eastern Africa Regional Cash Working Group , Cash and Voucher Assistance for Health Outcomes Workshop - Towards an action Plan

8 – 9 June 2021

The Cash and Voucher Assistance for Health Outcomes Workshop was organized on 8-9 June 2021 by the Regional Cash Working Group (CWG) for Eastern Africa. This Working Group aims to promote quality, coherence, effectiveness, and accountability of CVA in the region.

Due to the emerging significant interest in CVA and Health, the Regional CWG along with the Global Health Cluster (GHC) organized this two half-day regional workshop to facilitate sharing of CVA and health concepts, sharing of experiences, and discussion of good practice for the implementation of CVA for health outcomes, and improve coordination between cash and health actors.

The primary objective of the regional workshop was to take stock of the CVA and health activities in the Eastern Africa region, prioritize learnings around CVA and health, facilitate experience sharing and develop an action plan for moving forward.

More specifically the workshop intended to:

  • Introduce concepts of CVA and health outcomes including response option analysis methodology to determine the most appropriate intervention (including CVA and other health financing options).
  • Identify priorities and sub-priorities for the Regional East Africa CWG on CVA for health outcomes.
  • Provide an open forum for cash and health practitioners at the regional and country level to facilitate discussion and share perspectives, experiences, ideas and objectives.
  • Map out the regional experience and evidence on the use of CVA for specific health services.
